What Does Bereavement Counselling Involve?

Bereavement counselling offers a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and intense emotions with a trained professional. It can be particularly helpful if your bereavement has left you feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unable to move forward.

There is no ‘right way’ to grieve. You can talk at your own pace. You can talk about the person who died, how the loss is affecting your life, and how you are coping.

Individually Focused

Sue’s approach to counselling is a person-centred one. This revolves around creating a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel understood and supported.

Sue has worked with clients experiencing the effects of loss and grief in many different circumstances and supported clients from all walks of life.

Her aim is to help clients to find their way through difficult aspects of their grief. She finds the work inspirational and fulfilling.

About Sue

Sue started out in a business career, becoming the head of an employment agency before moving into the healthcare sector as a managing director.

In 2002, she began training as a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support. She felt she had found her calling and continued training to Level 5 Professional Diploma at Bristol City College.

She qualified in Therapeutic Counselling in 2007 and is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

“Sue has extensive experience of bereavement counselling from her many years as a volunteer at Cruse Bereavement Support. As her supervisor I saw her work with a wide variety of clients, supporting and helping them find their way through their grief. She always showed compassion and empathy for the people she worked with and I also witnessed significant changes in how they were feeling by the end of their work with Sue. I recommend her with confidence as a bereavement counsellor with extensive experience and skill.” Allon Stokes
