Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs for Women’s Health

We are experts in treating your women’s health issues at Acupuncture@Alma Vale Centre.

Our approach to balancing your health and hormones starts with a consultation. This gives us an in-depth evaluation of your hormones and whole body systems. Acupuncture treatment will address your hormonal imbalances and their underlying causes, not solely the isolated symptoms.

Please call if you are suffering from:

  • Menstrual disorders such as:
    • Period pain
    • PMS, irregular cycles and menstrual spotting
    • Heavy menses and irregular cycle bleeding
    • Endometriosis

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs for Fertility

Originating in China, traditional acupuncture has been considered by many to be an effective form of treatment for more than 2000 years. There is now an ever-growing body of research in the Western World also testifying to the benefits of acupuncture. Research shows that acupuncture can help with fertility issues. This includes with anxiety linked to IVF treatment.

We have a special interest in how acupuncture may be able to help men and women who would like to conceive.  Jill Glover and Helen Fielding have shared their expertise (accumulated over 30 years) on BBC News 24, Radio Four and the Discovery Channel. Julie KelhamKristy Perry, Lucy Macgregor and Claire Thorne have specialist knowledge and a wealth of experience working with fertility issues.

We offer you acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatment for female infertility, to rebalance your menstrual cycle.

We also suggest specific individualised dietary and lifestyle advice. These things together will improve your fertility.

A regular, smooth flowing menstrual cycle will support a conception and healthy pregnancy.

There are many factors that contribute to your infertility. Frustratingly, sometimes there is no medical explanation.

Female infertility accounts for approximately 40% of couples’ inability to conceive. Male factor is now 40%, and 20% is of unknown cause.

Female fertility affected by menstrual cycle

A woman’s menstrual cycle is a complex balance of hormones. Many menstrual disorders can cause difficulties in conception, both natural and assisted.

These can include long or short cycles, causing problems with ovulation and implantation. You may have painful heavy periods, these can cause problems with implantation. Or you may suffer from endometriosis or PCOS.

These menstrual disorders will all affect your ability to become pregnant. Acupuncture treatment can reduce these conditions and improve your fertility.

Chinese medicine has traditional methods of diagnosing your menstrual irregularities and infertility. Treatment can balance your hormones to support your fertility, even if the cause is unknown.

Your acupuncture treatment will be based on your menstrual cycle and previous medical test results. Find out more.
