Facial Acupuncture
Facial Acupuncture is an ancient beauty secret making a powerful comeback in modern skincare. This natural treatment uses ultra-fine needles to stimulate specific points on the face, boosting circulation, collagen production, and the body’s own healing energy. It results in firmer skin, and a radiant, youthful glow – a natural facelift without chemicals or downtime.
Unlike injectables or invasive procedures, Facial Acupuncture restores balance from within. It improves not only skin tone and elasticity, but also overall wellbeing. Each session is a rejuvenating experience that relaxes the mind while revitalizing the complexion. Fine lines soften, puffiness reduces, and your skin regains its natural vitality.
How does Facial Acupuncture work?
When a practitioner inserts ultra-fine needles into the skin, your body immediately kicks into repair mode:
- Collagen and Elastin Boost: The brain signals for the production of collagen and elastin to ‘heal’ the sites. This naturally firms the skin and fills in fine lines over time.
- Micro-Circulation: The needles trigger vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), flooding the face with oxygen and nutrients. This is what creates the ‘acupuncture glow’.
- Lymphatic Drainage: The process helps to move stagnant fluid. This then reduces puffiness (especially under the eyes) and helps the body to detoxify the skin.
Acupuncture also targets the Parasympathetic Nervous System, leading to:
- Stress Reduction: Most facial acupuncture sessions include points on the hands or feet designed to lower cortisol. Since stress is a primary cause of skin aging and inflammation, calming the mind directly improves the skin’s appearance.
- Reset of Muscle Memory: We hold a lot of emotion in our faces – furrowed brows from worry or a clenched jaw from stress. Acupuncture helps to reset these overactive muscles, softening the expression and making someone look more approachable and relaxed.
What conditions can it help with?
As well as improved skin quality and anti-ageing results, the benefits of Facial Acupuncture often extend past aesthetics:
- Acne and Rosacea: By regulating hormones and reducing systemic inflammation, it can clear up persistent skin conditions.
- Jaw Tension (TMJ): Facial Acupuncture is highly effective at releasing the masseter muscle, which can slim the jawline while relieving physical pain.
- Improved Sleep and Digestion: Because practitioners treat the root (the body) and the branch (the face) simultaneously, many patients report better sleep and energy levels as a result of their facial acupuncture treatment.
- Restoring Sense of Taste and Smell: This is achieved by reducing inflammation, regenerating nerves, and improving micro-circulation.
What can I expect from a session?
The practitioner will have a brief consultation with you before the treatment. This will cover a brief medical history, and a chance for you to discuss what you hope the facial acupuncture will achieve.
Tiny sterile needles will then be inserted around your face.
Once the needles have been removed, Gua Sha and a jade roller are used. Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves gently scraping the skin with a smooth tool. This improves circulation, reduces puffiness and inflammation. It also promotes lymphatic drainage and creates a healthy glow by increasing blood flow. The jade roller stimulates collagen production thereby improving skin elasticity.
The treatment concludes with a luxurious facial massage.
How many sessions will I need?
This is not an overnight fix. While you might see a glow after one session, the structural changes from collagen building typically take five to 10 weekly treatments to become significant and lasting.
Acupuncture is gentle and its results are cumulative. A course of 10 sessions is recommended to see the maximum benefits.
How much does it cost?
£80 for 1 hour
Free 10th treatment when booking a course of 9 treatments in advance.
