I believe that everyone has their own unique story that is rooted in and intertwined with a bigger picture; family, culture, the wider world, etc. Challenges can therefore arise in many ways and manifest in multiple forms throughout life. As an integrative counsellor, I work alongside clients, focusing on their needs and adapting therapeutic methods and techniques, to their distinctive story. I do this through a holistic approach, honouring the fact that as human beings our bodies, emotions, thoughts and responses are all deeply interlinked, which neuroscience is increasingly revealing.
I also believe that compassionate, non-judgemental relationship is central to therapeutic work, cultivating an acceptance that supports one to embrace themselves and their life journey with kindness. This in turn supports greater connection with oneself, others and the wider word. For we cannot always change our circumstances but I believe we can, through compassion, transform our relationship with ourselves and our circumstances.
Qualifications, experience and interests
I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and I am currently studying on a MA course in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am an individual member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked for the past two years as a counsellor with Kinergy, a voluntary organisation that specialises in sexual abuse and sexual violence. I am particularly interested in working with trauma and survivors of abuse. I also work with a wide range of issues, including depression, low mood, stress, anxiety, eating disorders, bereavement, etc.
I offer an initial assessment session, which I charge £25 for, in which you can meet with me, ask me any questions you may have about myself, counselling and my approach, to see whether I may be able to help you. After the initial assessment session if you think I may be of help to you and you would like to book further sessions, these further sessions will take place on a regular basis at the same time each week.
