Hi, I’m Jane McDowell and I’m absolutely passionate about helping people out of stress-related pain. I typically work with women aged 35-45 who run their own business and who suffer from stress-related migraines and headaches. I work with them to reduce the frequency and severity of their migraines and headaches which helps them to be more productive and successful in their work and more present in, and able to enjoy, their family and social life.

All my treatments are tailored to an individual’s specific needs and your first appointment includes a free half-hour consultation at which we will discuss the nature of your problem and the best treatment options for you.

My treatments consist of my own unique system founded in reflexology and massage techniques. I’m a qualified Reflexologist and a full member of the Association of Reflexologists and I’ve been practising reflexology since 2000. I’m also a qualified therapeutic massage therapist and I’ve been practising massage since 2004. In the last few years, I have developed a system of combining these two disciplines into my own unique therapy; a therapy which allows me to adapt each treatment session to the specific needs of my clients throughout the course of their healing journey.

As a Reflexologist, I am qualified in several postgraduate specialities including Advanced Spinal Reflexology, Hand Reflexology and Advanced Facial Reflexology (Bergman method).

I use Advanced Spinal Reflexology techniques in the delivery of my unique therapy as it has such great results, especially for people living with chronic pain or recovering from injury.

I use Advanced Facial Reflexology techniques as these are really beneficial for people suffering from stress and anxiety, migraines, headaches, insomnia, sinusitis and Bruxism (grinding your teeth). Facial Reflexology has the added benefit of leaving you with a radiant, glowing complexion.

As well as treating people who suffer from stress-related migraines and headaches I have a special interest in anxiety & depression, unresolved pain, sports injuries, and female hormone-related conditions (e.g. period pains/sickness and symptoms of the menopause). 

While I was training I volunteered for a year at University College Hospital in London treating people on the HIV/AIDS unit. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and showed me how important touch is for both our physical and emotional wellbeing.

I have a keen interest in treating sports injuries; I currently attend adult Boxing training classes (not to become a fighter but just to stay fit), and I used to practice Karate. I’ve treated many martial artists and sports enthusiasts helping them deal with injuries and keeping them in good health in the lead up to a sporting event.

In my spare time, when I’m not training in the boxing gym, or cycling around Bristol, I like to spend time in nature. I am the Chair of a small trust that works to encourage biodiversity and we have planted just over 3,000 trees in the past 7 years. My other loves are my husband, reading, community activism and comedy.
